TOBACCO

One of the most efficient ways in which new technologies can help farmers to add value to their crop is through seed breeding, currently also known as Variety Breeding. The correct selection, suitable allocation and proper management of tobacco varieties are determining factors for successful tobacco growing. Therefore, the development of improved varieties assumes not only a commercial importance, but also a strategic one, which is capable of bringing a significant impact on the agribusiness.

Air Cured Comum

As is the case with Burley, this type of tobacco undergoes a curing process in a barn under natural conditions, without the use of heat. Depending on the characteristics of the leaf being cured and the curing conditions the resulting colour of these leaves can vary from lighter to darker shades of brown. (Buff to Tan and Red.) This is a native Air Cured variety with ‘gum’ that makes it highly suited to the fermentation process that is sought after by some markets.
